Augmented Reality Goggles Project

Purpose:

To design and implement a creative real world application of augmented reality goggles.

About:

We have reviewed several ideas, some of which are listed below. The ideas are ordered in terms of practicality to design/implement. We have chosen the first idea because it has the most visible practical application and it allows us to get experience working with augmented reality goggles.

Displaying Captions for Hearing Impared

Input captions embedded in a movie to the augmented reality goggles and display them at the bottom of the goggles so that only people who want to see captions can see them and everyone else can enjoy a movie without captions (at the theatre).

Augmented Reality for Purdue Campus

Get video input as a person walks around purdue campus and highlight the names of buildings and streets and even possibly people as they pass by.

Reconstructing 3d Images from what people look at (virtual reality, based on real objects/places)

Takes video feed and convert images into 3d objects to be displayed through the glasses.
