Greetings everyone.

I'd like to thank everyone for coming to the call-out. I think it went rather
well. There has been a great deal of people sending me advice and
recommendations about the group! Keep it coming!

The new web page is in development all ready. We *MIGHT* need someone to do a
small banner-like PLUG logo. But I'm not sure about this right now.

Im busy planning the next meeting all ready. It occurred to me from the call out
and numerous emails after the call-out that there are ALOT of people who are
fairly new to Linux and need help. At first I mentioned that *I* would give
the first talk at our next meeting (On some security research I've done). But
I started to think. We should work this as a progression. I think we should
start with REAL basic talks about Linux. How to use it, WHY use it, etc etc.
I think this is what our first meeting should be about! And then build up
in dificulty.

Someone recommended that we alternate between "advanced" and "beginner" type
talks. I think this is a good idea! So I propose that at our first meeting
(Time/Date still unknown) we give a basic talk about Linux. I would like
to post flyers/emails about an INTRO TO LINUX Class. That way, people who
are just curious can have a place to see what it's like (A taste of heaven)

Then the meeting after that could be more "advanced" (Such as security or
GTK/GIMP use)

So there are 2 questions....
1) Do people like this idea??
2) *WHO* will give this talk!!! - I'd really like to see a "member" give
this talk. I know that I would do an "OK" job - but probably not spectacular.
We have to be careful about what we talk about though. If your prown to being
REALLY REALLY REALLY (that's 3 really's) technical and detail specific. Your
probably not the best person. It will be a hard job talking to people with
little or no experience. And It will be easy to talk over their heads!

If you would like to give this talk, (it can be a group effort!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
please give me a shout. (redmanrs@cs.purdue.edu)

Thanks!

Rick Redman
(expect an email very soon about date/time for next meeting)
