I can't tell you how to exactly fix your problem, but I do know the cause of it.
It actually occurs a lot in laptops (since LCDs don't always use standard video
controllers). The problem is that your modeline in the XF86Config is incorrect.
The best thing to do is find out the exact type of video card/controller your
motherboard uses. Chances are, someone else may have had the same problems.
You can always try to contact your manufacturer (not that they will be of any
help.)
You need to know things that the xf86config script asks you (NOT XF86Setup)...
Like I said, I can't tell how to fix it, but maybe you can get ahold of some
information to help.
