[PLUG] KDM

I don't know about KDM, but with XDM the file .xsession is used in the
place of .xinitrc, which is used to startup your stuff. If this is
missing, it might be the source of your problems. I believe it also
needs to be flagged as executable (chmod 755 .xsession), that might be
the problem. Also, you should (at least with XDM) hav a file created
called .xsession-errors in your home directory when things don't go
right. Check and see if this exists, and see what errors it's got.
