Don't forget everyone,
The PLUG (official) callout is on monday at 7:30 in EE170. I've put a
decent number of fliers up on the CS building side of campus, but I only
got 4 or 5 up on the engineering side. :( If anyone wants to help (I
know it's short notice, but the person who promised fliers never
delivered, and I had to hack a cheeseball one together), you're welcome
to print some out and stick 'em wherever you feel the need. You can find
'em on my personal webpage:
http://icdweb.cc.purdue.edu/~mxk/plugflier.ps
Just stuff 'em wherever you need.
As for the meeting talk, I'm thinking we need to cater to both newbies
and intermediate linux users like myself. So the plan is as follows:
1. Welcome to PLUG (5 min)
2. Quick "What is Linux" (for the newbies) (10 min)
3. Tips and tricks (basic security thoughts, admin tricks, pointers to
useful stuff) (15-20 min)
4. Open discussion (remaining time)
I'd like to, for the last bit, give some Q/A time for the whole group. I
know there's a lot of really bright people in the group, and I figure
that we can have some time to throw questions up in a semi-moderated
environment. This'll give the (poor) leadership some idea of where
interest lies for future meetings, and at the same time allow everyone
to have some fun trying to diagnose others' Linux problems. Newbies can
have their questions answered in a gentle environment and hardcore users
can get a chance to look for answers to tough questions. I'm going to
try to bring a linux box for slides, and we can use it to try out stuff
as well.
Hey! Tell your friends! Monday 7:30, EE170.
Have a great weekend, all,
Max
