[PLUG] small problem with x server

i'm having some trouble with my X-server

i changed some fonts in kde-setup, and now i get this message when
starting X:

_FontTransSocketUNIXConnect: Can't connect: errno = 111
failed to set default font path 'unix/:-1'
Fatal server error:
could not open default font 'fixed'

When reporting a problem related to a server crash, please send
the full server output, not just the last messages

X connection to :0.0 broken (explicit kill or server shutdown).

this happens when any user starts x.  i've used XF86Setup and
Xconfigurator to generate new XF86Config files, but that doesn't
work...  XF86Setup, however does successfully start an X-server. 

i tried reinstalling XFree86, and the Xserver for my card (SVGA).  that
too was unsuccessful.

any ideas?
