[PLUG] more about scp

i'm having a similar problem with scp, i can copy things to and from
mentor (and expert for that matter) when i'm on mentor, but not when i'm
issuing the commands from my machine, i get things like this:

[falc@hawk-c-072 falc]$ scp testfile pjweber@expert.cc.purdue.edu:/home/champion/m/pjweber/
Executing /usr/local/bin/ssh1 for ssh1 compatibility.
command-line line 0: Bad configuration option.
Connection lost.

and

[falc@hawk-c-072 falc]$ scp pjweber@mentor.cc.purdue.edu/home/champion/m/pjweber/testerr ./
warning: Cannot open source file pjweber@mentor.cc.purdue.edu/home/champion/m/pjweber/testerr

(yes, that 'testerr' is the correct name.)

any ideas?
