That's a really good question.  It was a product of a different
time.  By "open", they meant the spec was published and it was
detached from any particular OS.  More open than OpenWindows. :-)

You can get the spec on the web.  It's a pretty big document.  The
question is whether it's a complete description and (now) how well
it meshes with MacOS X.

It's a placeholder.  It looks cool.  Something better is coming...

My next GNUstep project is helping to beat GWorkspace.app into
shape, with or (preferably) without Window Maker for support.  Once
that's going, we'll have something to look at. :-)

Should be the US home of GWorkspace.app pretty soon.  As soon as
we can get it doing what it should be.

The other thing I'd like to see is more tools to get OPENSTEP stuff
to compile and run under GNUstep.  That'll be crucial until we have
better development tools.
