[PLUG] can't recompile my FreeBSD kernel

Hello,
 I'm having some trouble with recompiling my kernel. When I do a make
install I get this:

chflags noschg /kernel
chflags: /kernel: Operation not permitted
*** Error code 1 (ignored)
mv /kernel /kernel.old
mv: rename /kernel to /kernel.old: Operation not permitted    

so I tried cp kernel to kernel.old and rm kernel but that didn't work
either. Any idea why, or what I should do to fix this.
