1) I'm not sure why you would want to SSL-ify your local connections but
not your connections to the external network. That just doesn't make
sense. :)
2) You can use IPSec to achieve this. I know W2K has some form of IPSec
support, and of course Free/OpenBSD does (as does Linux I'm sure :-).
Unfortunately, I'm pretty dang sure W2K's ipsec support isn't
builtin. You have to get some kind of toolkit or something. And I'm
not sure it's free either. :)
3) See #1. I'd honestly be laughing more if you don't trust your local
network more than you do the external net, than if you are using W2K.
