[PLUG] Problem on Csociety / Sanmateo

I am not sure if the sys admin(s) for Csociety / Sanmateo will see this, but
have any of you noticed any problems on these boxes?

Today I tried logging into sanmateo only to find my home directory did not
exist. Then I remembered it is NFS mounted off csociety which was undergoing
a hard disk upgrade.

Now, my home directory exists again, which is great, but the big problem is:
the files there are from ages ago!

I am guessing that something screwed up during the upgrade and the admins
had to reload from a backup. And the last backup may have been made a very
long time ago.

I hope I am wrong, but does anyone here know if this is the case? Is this
situation temporary or is the recent state of the files not going to be
restored?

Sigh. This is sooo typical. I spend my time telling other people to backup
their stuff, and then completely ignore my own advice by not backing up data
on a box I use very often. I suppose everyone needs to get burnt at least
once.

Oh well. I hope someone here can clue me in on what is going on.

Later,
Dev
