[.. snippage ..]

I'll be giving a free ``Beginning LaTeX'' ECN (Engineering Computer
Network) short course on Tuesday, February 13, 3--4pm in MSEE B-12.

LaTeX is a free, high-quality typesetting system, with features
designed for the production of technical and scientific
documents. LaTeX is the de facto standard for the communication and
publication of scientific documents.

LaTeX is available for many different computers.

If you know how to use a text editor, you'll learn enough at this
short course to typeset simple text and mathematics.

Reservations aren't necessary for any of the short courses but if you plan
to come please send email to mds@purdue.edu so they'll be enough handouts.

p.s.
Other already scheduled LaTeX-related short courses for this semester are
    Beginning BibTeX
    Using LaTeX for Your Thesis
    Intermediate LaTeX
    Beginning Metapost
See http://www.ecn.purdue.edu/ECN/ShortCourses/ECN_Short_Course_Listing
for more information.

In the fall I plan to give the following LaTeX-related short courses
Using Prosper for Presentations (Ever been disappointed in PowerPoint's
ability to typeset math or do animation? Use LaTeX-based Prosper.)
    Using METAGRAF 3-D for graphs/graphics
