Yesterday I wrote about the trouble I was having getting RedHat 7 linux on
hdb2 to boot from the NT loader using bootsect.lnx. After some searching
through Deja News and seeing several instances of the same problem but no
real solutions, I started messing with Lilo. Finally got it working. It
doesn't make any sense why it wouldn't work from hda2, because RH6.1 would.
But what I ended up doing was having lilo put the boot sector on the MBR of
hdb (I think... anyway on hdb instead of on hdb2). Then when I copied the
bootsect.lnx to the NT partition, it booted fine.
I had read that lilo is now able to boot from any partition on any drive, and
it would seem so as of RH6.1. I don't know if there are new details of the
lilo that came with RH7 that I am unaware of, but I'm happy now that it works.
