  This is true. I've installed nt after linux and it doesn't touch the
MBR.
  (Rather a new NT bootloader appears but with access to the old OS as
an option)

  Even you blow your MBR, it's ok. Get a ext2 filesystem access driver
for windows
  copy the kernel you're normally boot from to your windows partition.

  download and install loadlin.exe 

  and run loadlin kernel_file_name root=/dev/yourlinuxpartition
