Have you tried an SSH session? If I were you, I'd forget telnet all
together.

Subject: [PLUG] Can't Telnet in from PUCC labs to my box
Hey guys, here's a question for you all.
I've got my ResNet connection working on my RH7.0 box _almost_
flawlessly. Everyone in my dorm and in the residence hall system seems to
be able to access my box at 128.211.x.x to play quake or UT, share music,
update our web site, etc., but when I try to telnet in from a PUCC lab I
can't reach my system. The same goes for FTP and my apache-hosted website.
Now here's the weird thing... I can telnet into mentor.cc.purdue.edu
and even connect to my career account via Samba, but if I start a Telnet
session-within-a-session from mentor to try to get into my box, I get some
kind of error like "host not found" or just a connection timeout. Anybody
had this problem before?
