How did you manage to miss this on the list? This has been discussed and
whined about weekly. Verizon-Purdue DSL is part of ResNet, with all of
its overloaded problems. The only peace for ResNet users is to dream
about universities with real connections, making graphs like this one:
http://mrtg.cl.msu.edu/mrtg/campus/cc-rtr.72.html . Mmm, OC12, 100BaseT
in the dorms, computer requirement, for 43000 students. Wish we had that
funding...

As for me, I finally got a working cablemodem today, so I'm very happy.
apt-get dist-upgrade at 130-230 kB/s, pings to purdue and work are
40-80ms. ssh to remote machines feels like I'm at the console again. I
decided to wait to see how overloaded ResNet would get before I ordered
high-speed service. Wow, easy decision. I had Verizon-Purdue DSL last
year, which was nice then, but I don't see any signs of recovery. Cable
is faster anyway. You could use Verizon's network but you'll pay for it.
