[PLUG] Networking Gremlins

Ok, I am lost here.
I am running Slack 8 on 2.4.10 as an IP masq server for one other computer.
It has been running for 5 or 6 days just fine. Last night I unplugged the
network cable out of the wall that went to my external NIC and the command
line froze. This had happened once before and I just plugged it back in and
it unfroze.. but not this time. So I rebooted it and it went through its
little thing, I log in, and hmmmm I cant get to the internet. I can ping
both my internal and external IP. I can ping my computer inside the LAN,
and vice versa. I can ping my external ResNet IP on the Linux computer from
my internal LAN Windows computer (so I know the IP masq is working) But I
can NOT ping my gateway, or anything else outside for that matter. I know
my routing tables and interfaces are configured right because when I set up
IP masq, I rewrote the entire rc.inet1 file to configure route tables and
ethernet cards to work 100% every time (and it has for several days after
reboots and such) The only thing I can find wrong is in the ARP tables, it
lists my gateway hardware address as "incomplete". But when I try to add a
static entry to it describing the true hardware address, it adds the entry
but it still doesn't work... Does anyone have an idea of this mystery
situation? I have checked everything 12 times. I like to consider myself
very strong in networking and troubleshooting, so this kinda bugs me that I
cant figure it out.
Thanks
Brad
